The Reverie, 1897 Art Glass Panel by Alphonse Mucha is adapted from an illustration originally designed to serve as the 1898 Champenois company calendar. However, its immediate popularity led to its swift publication by the magazine La Plume as a decorative panel with the title Reverie (daydream). Mucha's design shows a dreamy-eyed young woman leafing through a book of decorative designs. The prominent disk behind her is elaborately decorated with flowers and their stems forming a lace-like pattern.
On this glass panel, enamel colors are individually applied to a single sheet of glass which is then kiln fired to permanently fuse the enamels to the glass. The glass panel is then framed with a copper patina metal came for an antique feel, and includes both a hanging chain and clear acrylic stand for desk or table display. Dimensions: Ht: 12". W: 9".
Alfons Maria Mucha (1860-1939), often known in English and French as Alphonse Mucha, was a Czech Art Nouveau painter and decorative artist best known for his distinct style. He produced many paintings, illustrations, and advertisements as well as designs for jewelry, home furnishings and theatre sets. This art glass panel has been developed in association with The Mucha Foundation, an independent, non-profit charity devoted to preserving and conserving the Mucha Trust Collection.
