The Alhambra tiles are remarkable in that they contain nearly all of the seventeen possible wallpaper groups (mathematical classification of a two-dimensional repetitive pattern, based on the symmetries in the pattern). M. C. Escher's visit to the Alhambra and study of the Moorish symmetries in the tiles inspired his subsequent work on tessellation, which he called "regular divisions of the plane”. 100% Silk Chiffon.
